How Do I Get a Library Card?

If you live in our service area, you may get a library card free of charge, as part of your tax-supported library service.

Your library card allows you to:

  • Borrow items from us and from most other public libraries in Illinois.
  • Use special online collections and databases to find information you can't get just by searching the web.
  • Check out music, movies, language systems, puppets and more.

To get a library card, a form of identification showing proof of your current address within the boundaries of the Johnsburg Public Library District is required. Children must be at least age 5 to have their own library card.  Anyone age 17 and under must be accompanied by their parent or guardian when applying for a card.
