DIRECTOR’S REPORT

May 2014

  1. Food for Fines during National Library Week:

Elsie filled her car twice with food from our food drive for the FISH food pantry.  One of our biggest success stories was a patron who we had repeated contact with in an attempt to get her to return 32 items overdue since the end of January – mostly DVDs.  I contacted her again a couple of days before Food for Fines was ending.  I reminded her I was going to have to start the legal process the next week to get the items back, and strongly suggested she take advantage of the Food for Fines opportunity.  She showed up on the last day of Food for Fines with all her overdue items and her 32 food items as payment.

  1. Garden beds installed!

Thanks to Melanie for all her hard work in planning for the beds and related garden programming.  They look great!  Thanks also to Eagle Scout Daniel Lytle, Troop #455, Barb Klein, Skye Schoen, and members of our Teen Advisory Group for their help with building and installing the beds.  Planting day is scheduled for Saturday, May 31.
