Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Trustees

Johnsburg Public Library

February 11, 2014

 Call to Order

 Meeting was called to order by President E. Munson at 7:08 P.M.  Trustees present:  M. Diedrich, E. Munson, M.J. Farrell, K. Gustafson, K. Hughes, R. Barnes, and J. Stockwell.  Trustees absent:  None.  Director M. Zawacki was present.

 

Approval of Minutes

 Motion was made by K. Gustafson and seconded by K. Hughes to approve the minutes of the January meeting as amended.  Ayes:  M. Diedrich, E. Munson, K. Hughes, K. Gustafson, and M.J. Farrell.  Abstain:  J. Stockwell and R. Barnes.  Motion passed.

 Approval of Bills

 Motion was made by M.J. Farrell and seconded by R. Barnes to approve the payment of bills in the amount of $45,036.64.  Ayes: M. Diedrich, E. Munson, K. Hughes, K. Gustafson, M.J. Farrell, J. Stockwell, and R. Barnes.  Motion passed.

 Treasurer's Financial Report

 Trustees reviewed the financial report.

 Committee Reports

 There were no committee reports.

 Correspondence

 Trustees reviewed the information regarding pension liability.  There will be money budgeted for additional payments to IMRF in FY2015. 

 Trustees reviewed the monthly IT systems report.

 Unfinished Business

 There was no unfinished business.

New Business

 Motion was made by M.J. Farrell and seconded by J. Stockwell to approve Ordinance No. 2014-2-1.  This is an ordinance to amend the purposes of accumulations in the special reserve fund.  Ayes:  E. Munson, M. Diedrich, M.J. Farrell, K. Hughes, K. Gustafson, J. Stockwell, and R. Barnes.  Motion passed.

 Motion was made by J. Stockwell and seconded by M. Diedrich to approve the Comcast Internet Proposal Upgrade.  Ayes:  E. Munson, M. Diedrich, M.J. Farrell, K. Hughes, K. Gustafson, J. Stockwell, and R. Barnes.  Motion passed.

 Booth shifts for the Johnsburg Business Expo on March 15, 2014 were determined.  M.J. Farrell and E. Munson will work from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.   M. Diedrich will work from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  K. Hughes and J. Stockwell will work from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.  The Expo may not be feasible due to a lack of booths and the fact that McHenry is hosting an Expo the same day. 

 Director's Report

 Employee Heather has visited two homebound patrons for a library visit with a possibility for more.  We will try to contact local churches to see if they have any homebound parishioners who desire this service.

 Due to the extreme temperatures, the library was opened from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Monday, January 27th and from 1:00 P. M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 28th.  Many other libraries followed the same schedule on those two days.

  1. Homebound Service:

Heather has made a first delivery of some books-on-CD to one homebound senior so far.  We’ll next try to contact local churches and see if they will give info on our services to their homebound parishioners.

 

  1. Weather Closings:

During the latest round of extreme temperatures, the library was only open from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 27 and from 1:00-9:00 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 28.  Many other libraries followed this same schedule on those two days.
