I am pleased to report that we finally received our FY2011 Per Capita check for $12,226.75. We have until June 30, 2012 to spend the money.
I am now regularly posting on the library’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/johnsburgpubliclibrary) and Twitter accounts (@jburglibrary). “Like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! We’ll have a special holiday giveaway, specifics of which will only be made available via these social networking tools. Pam is currently working on the promotional info to encourage people to sign up. The FY2014 Per Capita grant will require us to report on the library’s promotion and programming, including the use of social networking.
Warner Home Video will no longer distribute theatrical releases to libraries or home video rental operations until 28 days after they release the movies for sale at retailers. In addition to being released 28 days after the retail version, Warner’s rental version DVDs will not contain bonus features or extras. This will also result in a price reduction of approximately $4 per title. One of the upcoming DVD releases affected by this will be the new Harry Potter release.
We had originally been told that we’d be receiving this in mid-October when the fax option became operational. I’m now being told it might be released sometime in November, or at least by the end of the year.
Judy, Paulette, and I attended this year’s conference. We attended programs on legal trends, using social media, the library as the community’s “third space”, IMRF, and ideas for next summer’s reading program.
